Kidding around at Sobeys

Round up the children Tuesday and head over to the parking lot at the Orangeville Sobeys.
The store is hosting its annual Kids Night event from 5 to 7 p.m., which promises plenty of carefree youth-based entertainment and fun. For the past six years, people attending Kids Night have been treated to a variety of free activities and a complementary barbecue for members of the community — young or old — to enjoy.
Sobeys owners Derek and Joanne Leduc enjoy the opportunity to give back to their community.
“[We] said, ‘what can we do every year for our customers?’ and we decided to organize an event for kids” Derek says.
The event is usually held on Canada Day when the store was closed, but due to the large new parking lot, and the summer schedule of families, the new timeframe allows for a late afternoon escape, without extensive planning.
“Hopefully it brings people over to this end of town who may not have known about the new businesses in the area,” Derek says.
To keep the crowd entertained, the Riddell Road location will be rocking to the sounds of Avril Lavigne and Miley Cirus tribute bands, as well as numerous carnival games, free samples from suppliers, and the Interactive Natrel Moo Bus.
