Market offers tempting taste of the season

Taste of the Season is the theme at the Market on Broadway this Saturday (July 19).
Fresh Ontario cherries, peas, beans and new potatoes will be for sale at Jose and Maria Sousa’s booth. The fresh tender fruits and vegetables are brought by the Sousas to market from their home in Wellandport.
Market friends are welcome to enter this week’s free draw to win a basket of market tender fruits and fresh vegetables at the information booth next to the Second Street entrance of Town Hall. Washrooms are available inside for market friends.
The summer silent auction of market products donated by vendors will be this Saturday.
Bids will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds are in support of the market.
Helen and Peter Danchuk will be cooking perogies for breakfast again. Cyd and Michael Blake offer breakfast or lunch at their Jamaican food booth, known for its jerk chicken. Laura Jean and Wayne from Speers Amaranth farm offer pea meal bacon or beef on a bun at their booth.
The community food advisors from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health
Units will have a booth offering information on preserving and canning local foods.
Arthur Greenhouses showcases beautiful David Austin roses at its booth that offers quality locally grown perennials and shrubs.
Grandmas in Pajamas have an information booth on their program to provide families with pajamas for the winter.
