Don’t miss the upcoming Theatre Orangeville Drama Young Company production of Just This Once Upon A Time, written and directed by Jane Ohland Cameron. This wonderful original new show plays at Theatre Orangeville Aug. 22 to 24. The show stars incredibly talented young people from all corners of our community. Theatre Orangeville is looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious senior high school student to work part-time in our box office. The successful applicant must be available to work after school and on alternate Saturdays. Specific hours may vary depending upon performance schedules. Resumes must be submitted by Aug. 15.
Gwynne Phillips, a past member of the original Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (TOYS), is another talented young person from our community who is making a name for herself in the Toronto arts scene. Gwynne makes her directorial debut with The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine written by Leah Cherniak, Robert Morgan and Martha Ross. The show is presented by The Pheasant Plucker’s Mates at The Bread and Circus Theatre located at 193 1/2 Baldwin St. in Kensington Market. The show runs from July 30 to Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling 416-892-8366 or by e-mail at the_pheasant_pluckers_mates@yahoo.ca.
Century Church Theatre’s Summer Festival in Hillsburgh is presenting the hilarious hit play Who’s On First? later this summer.  Billed by its author, Jack Sharkey, as “a nightmare comedy,” the play involves false accusations among friends and lovers leading to wildly improbable situations involving a lamp with strange powers, a rubber chicken, and the strangest party ever! Who’s On First plays from Aug. 13 to 23. The shows run Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. Evening performances take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27. Music for Young Children, the incredible Summer Music Day Camp, celebrates its 29th year this summer! Young people can have fun and learn to play harps, piano, drums, hand-bells and chimes. Dance classes include step dancing, belly dancing and hip-hop. It’s a wonderful chance to make instruments, compose music, sing and make new musical friendships that will last a lifetime. Previous musical training is not a prerequisite. The program runs from Aug. 11 to 15. Spaces are extremely limited, so please call Shirley Jemmett at 519-942-8675 for more information.
