Enjoy 200 fine-art photographs by Emmy Award-winning director, animator and local photographer Ron Pitts. His exhibit, Once Upon a Pond ... and Beyond, runs from September to November at the Dufferin County Museum and Archives. Phone 877-941-7787.

Events
The theme this Saturday at Market on Broadway is “Glad It’s for You!” which is the feature at Peter and Jane Ponsen’s booth where beautiful, locally grown gladiolas will be for sale. The Ponsen’s booth is located in Grower’s Row on Second Street next to the Town Hall entry.

Music

Season’s on Mill St. welcomes back Noah Zacharin, aka Big Daddy Z, on Sept. 5. Singer, songwriter, poet and guitarist extraordinaire, Zacharin continues his tradition of literate well-crafted and heartfelt songs with his newest CD, “Waiting on Your Love.” Showtime 7-10 p.m.

The Mainlanders release their first CD at 8 p.m. in the Orangeville Town Hall Opera House on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Mainlanders are comprised of Orangeville residents Jeff Campbell and Ryan Reid and Murray Abraham from Fergus.
The CD release party special guest opening act is the Time Catchers aka Wayne King, Betty Ann Lusk and Tom Althouse. The Time Catchers create a new and unique sound that appeals to everyone who loves folk, country and bluegrass.

Upcoming Events
The Headwaters Arts Festival, which takes place Sept. 26 to Oct. 13, highlights the work of some of the area’s most talented artists in visual art, music, literature, dance, theatre and film, through studio tours, shows and performances. Enjoy the festival art show and sale, Sept. 27-28 and Oct. 4-5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a juried art show featuring the work of 40 of Headwaters’ most talented artists. At the Mini Masterpieces Fundraiser Show and Sale works of various artists will be displayed but visitors won’t know if it’s a headwaters artist, teacher, politician or local celebrity until they see the name on the back after purchasing the artwork. Phone 519-943-1149.

The Grand Valley Fall Fair takes place Sept. 21-22. Enjoy Naomi Bristow, the yodeling cowgirl and Ambassador of the Fair competition on opening night, as well as 4-H dairy show, sheep and goat shows, homecraft exhibits, a heavy horse show, tractor and truck pull, demolition derby, parade, midway and other fun events throughout the weekend. From Sept. 27 to 28, the region’s  First Nations and early settlement history will be celebrating during the 5th Annual Traces of Our Past Festival. The event will feature exhibits of rare artifacts and art works, show and sale of period art and accoutrements, and special events, presentations and re-enactments.
