Three friends participating in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer 60-kilometre walk are hosting a car wash in the parking lot of Sobeys this weekend. A $2,000 entry fee is required from each person taking part in the walk, which means they need to raise $6,000 in total. The car wash runs Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a barbecue so make sure to bring your appetite.
The Dodge Rodeo Tour rides into town this weekend at the Orangeville Fairgrounds, located northeast of the town on Five Side Road in the Town of Mono, just off Hockley Road. Rodeo competitions take place, rain or shine, on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. Fairgrounds and vendors open by 11 a.m. both days, with the beer garden following at noon. On Saturday night, enjoy the Country 95.3 video dance, complete with three giant screens and concert lighting and sound, which starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 adults, six to 12 years $10, under five $3 and all advanced tickets gets a $3 discount. The toe-tapping sounds of the 58th Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship will begin Aug. 6 with five days of events and fun. Ticket prices are as follows: Event package (Thursday-Saturday), adults $40, children (12 and under), $20; Mark Sullivan Old Time Fiddle Show (Thursday, Aug. 7, 7:30 p.m.), adults $20, children $10; competition playdowns (Friday, Aug. 8, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.), adults $10, children $3; and fiddle championship (Saturday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m.), adults $20, children $10.
