Vets drop semifinal opener in Caledon

The Shelburne Junior C Veterans lost the opening game of their Ontario Lacrosse Association semifinal series against Caledon 16-5 Tuesday night.
The visiting Vets fell behind 4-2 after the opening period, with Rob Wilson and Travis Galbraith scoring for Shelburne. The home side stretched their lead in the second period, outscoring Shelburne 4-1. Vets captain Corey Sinclair scored for Shelburne.
Caledon dominated the third period, as they scored eight times to secure the win. Galbraith and Sinclair each scored their second goal for Shelburne.
Caledon scored eight power play goals in 11 opportunities, while Shelburne capitalized four times with the extra man.
Caledon finished first in the regular season with a 12-3 record. Shelburne was fourth with a 7-8 mark. The Vets defeated Innisfil two-games-to-one to advance to the semifinals.
The best-of-five series resumes tonight (Friday) in Shelburne. Game time is 8 p.m. at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex.
