The Orangeville major tyke Northmen were in Hamilton recently for the Hamilton Super Series, and came away with a win and two loses.
Orangeville opened the tournament against Sarnia and jumped out to a 3-0 lead with an incredible first period. The second period was scoreless before the Pacers battled back with a couple of goals to close within one, but the Northmen held on for a 3-2 win.
Elgin Cooke led the way with two goals and an assist and Jackson Hand scored the other.
Dawson Drury was solid in net, picking up the win.
Orangeville faced Burlington, who had beat the Northmen 8-1 in Owen Sound two weeks earlier, and came up with a strong game. Orangeville opened the scoring 3:14 into the game before Burlington bounced back with a goal just over three minutes later. Burlington added one in the second and two more in the third to take a 4-1 win.
Quinten Schneider scored the only goal, unassisted.
The final game of the round robin was against the powerful Peterborough Lakers. Orangeville set their sights on improving from the 12-1 loss at the start of the year in Peterborough. The Northmen played their best game of the tournament, in spite of the 10-3 loss, but showed improvement in the final score.
Cooke picked up a goal and an assist, while Liam McIllwraith and Devon Dunkerley rounded out the scoring with a goal each. Tanner Buck and Ryan Bowie each added assists.
